The 911 is turning 40 and you're
     invited to the party.

It’s been 40 years since the 911 roared onto the world sports car scene at the Frankfurt International Auto Show, ushering in a new era for Porsche and its guiding philosophy of performance.

On October 18th, 2003, authorized Porsche dealers across North America will commemorate this seminal event by hosting special 40th Anniversary celebrations. (The date for events in the province of Quebec is October 21, 2003.) The 40th Anniversary is a chance for you and your fellow Porsche enthusiasts to look back at past generations of the 911, check out the current models and see what the future holds for this quintessential sports car.

Everyone who attends will receive a 40 Fast Years commemorative poster* and four lucky people will win a Porsche Driving Experience (PDE) 2-Day Course at the impressive new Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama. Visit 40fastyears.com for event information and prize details.

At the recent American Le Mans Series (ALMS) race at the Miami Grand Prix of the Americas, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS took seven of the top ten GT-class positions and its eighth win of the 2003 season.

Even though Alex Job Racing (AJR) and its lead drivers, Sascha Maassen and Lucas Luhr, had sealed up the 2003 ALMS Championship before arriving in Miami, they showed no mercy and finished atop the podium yet again.

Close behind Maassen/Luhr in the overall standings is the other AJR Porsche, driven by Jorg Bergmeister and Timo Bernhard. Despite challenging their “senior” teammates all season, the pair had to settle for sixth in Miami after hitting the wall just minutes from the checkered flag.

Next up is the marquee ALMS event, the Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta. The race will be held on October 18th. You can catch all ten hours live on the Speed Channel. For complete Porsche racing information, visit the motorsports section of porsche.com.

     The new Cayenne. The same
     on- and off-pavement prowess
     with V6 power.

Since its North American arrival in March of 2003, the Porsche Cayenne has made a name for itself in the luxury SUV segment. In fact, AutoWeek readers named it the “Best SUV/Off-Road Vehicle” in AutoWeek’s 14th Annual “America's Best” survey and Robb Report presented it with the “Robb Report Best of the Best 2003” award in the sport utility segment. Now a third model, simply named Cayenne, will join the Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo.

The new model is powered by the first V6 to ever be offered in a Porsche. It has four valves per cylinder and produces 247 horsepower (SAE) at 6,000 rpm and 229 lb.-ft. of torque between 2,500 and 5,500 rpm. The V6 was further modified to ensure maximum performance in some of the most severe off-pavement conditions. Despite having a new powerplant, the Cayenne will feature the same benchmark on- and off-pavement capabilities possessed by its V8 siblings.

The V6-powered Cayenne will be available in North America in the first half of 2004. For more information on Cayenne, visit porsche.com.
